Aníkúlápó

When their relationship is exposed, a furious King orders Saro to be beaten to death. Stranded in the spiritual realm after his demise, Saro is encountered by the Akala, a mystical, ancient bird with the power to give and take life. Arolake, who has fled into the forest, disrupts the bird's ritual, driving it away and managing to seize its magical gourd—a vessel containing the power of resurrection. She uses it to bring Saro back from the dead. Now hidden in a new village named Ojumo, the couple starts fresh. Armed with the gourd, Saro begins resurrecting dead villagers, quickly gaining fame, immense wealth, and the title "Aníkúlápó." However, as his power grows, so does his arrogance. Saro forgets his humble roots and the woman who saved him. He becomes drunk on power, demanding excessive sacrifices from grieving families and aggressively amassing power, status, and multiple wives. When he goes as far as demanding a king's daughter as payment for a resurrection, his betrayal of Arolake pushes her to the edge, leading to a tragic, poetic climax about the dangerous consequences of unchecked human ego.
