Hollow Vows

Five years earlier a pregnant Sandra receives a text message placing her husband George in a hotel with another woman. Despite her night blindness she drives into darkness and crashes losing their unborn child and her womb. In Hollow Vows the marriage has curdled into a prison where Sandra humiliates George daily refuses his apologies and blocks his every attempt at peace. He endures the abuse out of guilt sleeping in a separate room and funding her uterus transplant abroad. Nora Sandra's best friend discovers her fiancé Femi has stolen fifty million naira and fled to Dubai with his secret wife and child. Devastated Nora confides in George who approaches her about Sandra's transplant demands and their shared grief becomes an affair that leaves Nora pregnant. George files for divorce but Sandra vows to make his life a living hell rejects adoption and demands he sign consent for the dangerous transplant. When he refuses she serves divorce papers and he moves out only to die in a suspicious car crash. At the will reading the matrimonial home goes to Sandra but sixty percent of company dividends enter a lifetime trust for Nora and their unborn child with the remainder reverting to the child upon Nora's death. Sandra contests the will alleging undue influence but her lawyer warns the document is airtight because George was competent independently witnessed and left a recorded instruction. Meanwhile Nora is run down in a hit-and-run outside her home and survives with minor bruises and the baby is unharmed. Police investigation reveals the driver was hired by Sandra and confronted with witness testimony and surveillance footage she is arrested and led from her home in handcuffs. Nora now under the protection of George's loyal friend Bala and the former security guard Ibe recovers at home feeling the baby kick. Sandra's legal challenge is withdrawn on counsel's advice leaving the will intact.
