Biography

EARLY LIFE

Josbert Thomas Kwamina Eyimofe Duncan was born on 28 May 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the youngest of seven children (five sisters and one brother) born to Professor Josbert Thomas Kofi (J.T.K.) Duncan, a pioneering medical doctor, radiotherapist, and oncologist, and Mrs. Molly Thomas, a banker. His father, who had Ghanaian and Nigerian (Itsekiri) heritage, passed away in March 2026 at the age of 94. Mofe hails from Delta State and is of Itsekiri ethnicity. He began modeling at the age of five, appearing in advertisements for brands such as Nestlé (including Maggi). He pursued higher education at the University of Lagos, graduating with a degree in Biological Sciences. His entry into entertainment was initially met with resistance from his academically oriented family.

CAREER

Duncan started as a child model and transitioned into acting after university. An early professional opportunity came while he was still a student when a director spotted him and offered a role. He gained wider recognition with his performance in the 2017 film Dark Past (produced by Chika Ike and directed by Serah Donald Onyeachor). He has appeared in over 70–80 Nollywood films and series. Notable credits include: Sons of the Caliphate (2016–2018, TV series) Talking Dolls (2017) Dark Past (2017) The Three Kings (2018) Love Is Yellow (2020) Ile Owo (2022) Fix Us (2023) Extra Mile, Japa!, 07.03, Ilebaye (2024) Ireke (Rise of the Maroons) (2025; also casting director) Mirrors And Reflections (2026) Ovy’s Voice, Sobi’s Mystic, Heart Repairs (director, 2025), and many others. Beyond acting, he has worked as a television host (HITV and Rhythm FM), project manager/coordinator at SDA Productions Limited, and runs 5ive28 as CEO. He has also directed projects including The Three Kings. Some sources credit him with awards such as Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Golden Movie Awards (2018), though primary confirmation varies.

PERSONAL LIFE

Duncan married Jessica Kakkad, a skincare/beauty entrepreneur, on 22 August 2015. The marriage ended in divorce around 2018–2019 due to irreconcilable differences. He has addressed past relationship rumors as unfounded friendships. He is a practicing Christian. Personal interests include horror movies, video games, and red cars; he has noted an allergy to grass. In interviews he has spoken openly about family losses and career challenges.

Duncan is known for versatility across acting, directing, and media entrepreneurship. He has spoken about learning specialized skills for roles (e.g., a Hausa accent for a Northern Nigerian character). He remains active in Nollywood with both on-screen and behind-the-scenes work, while managing his entertainment company.
