Two Weeks To A Wedding

Omolara is a wedding planner without money, locked out of her apartment because she cannot pay the rent. She takes on a wealthy client, Frederick, who hires her to arrange his wedding. While she reviews proposals in a borrowed conference room, his fiancée phones to call off the wedding and switches off her phone. Frederick, humiliated and furious, tells his friend Stanley he will still marry on the 25th by interviewing strangers. After a series of disastrous interviews he has no bride. Omolara, still owed a 70% down payment, storms into his office with her friend Nneoma to demand payment, and Frederick proposes that she pose as his wife for one year for ten million naira. She accepts, moves in, and faces his list of absurd rules. Their war of wills over furniture, food, and the television remote gradually softens as they begin to share domestic life and care for each other. Frederick offers her an office space, and she buys him a thank-you gift. They begin to think the contract may become real and talk about tearing it apart. A work crisis leaves Frederick stressed, and he comes home to verbally attack Omolara. He calls her dirty and blames her for the disorder. Deeply wounded, she tells him she thought she loved him and that she can see why his previous marriages failed. Vividly angry, she packs her bags, leaves, and cuts off contact. Frederick is left to confront the consequences. Unable to reach Omolara, Frederick locates her by posing as an event client. He tells her about his traumatic upbringing: born from his father's affair with a maid, raised by ashamed grandparents who called him dirty, he developed an obsessive need for cleanliness. Recent outbursts, he explains, were triggered by stress, and he admits he is seeing a therapist. Omolara softens, apologizes for misjudging him, and takes him in her arms as the two reconcile.
