Storyline

In the movie Monica, we see the full life of a girl who grows up helping her family. She starts by waking up early with her mother to sell pap in the neighborhood. A man named Uzor tries to talk to her but she is rude to him. Later, she works at Aunty Divine's tailoring shop and wants her own machine, but her mother says no because they need money for her younger brother and sister, Chika and Bobo. She feels sad that she always has to give up her dreams as the oldest daughter. Fifteen years later, Monica is still the same, working hard, but Chika gets a good bank job. They meet Uzor again, now rich, and he gives his card to Chika only. Then Monica's boyfriend Pascal tells her he will marry her sister Chika instead and gives her gifts to keep quiet. When the family finds out, they blame Monica and call her jealous. She packs to leave but then Bobo's girlfriend comes home pregnant and they want Monica's room. At the end, Aunty Divine gives Monica the shop and asks her to go to Canada with her. Monica leaves her family behind with a smile as they deal with their problems. This shows how life can change for good after pain.
