Biography
EARLY LIFE
Kae-Kazim was born in Lagos to a family from Abeokuta, Ogun State in the southwestern region of Nigeria and relocated to south London when he was a baby. His interest in acting began with school plays and the National Youth Theatre, where he discovered his love for theatre and acting. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 1987 and was offered a space with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he continued his classical training.
CAREER
Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a Nigerian-British actor and producer known for portraying Georges Rutaganda in Hotel Rwanda (2004), for which he gained international attention. He won a SAFTA for Best Supporting Actor in Riding with Sugar (2020). He starred in Black Sails (2014–2016) as Mr. Scott, Troy: Fall of a City (2018) as Zeus, and produced and starred in Man on Ground (2011). His career spans film, television, stage, and voice work in video games.
PERSONAL LIFE
Kae-Kazim and his South African wife Bronwyn have three daughters. He has lived and worked in South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Nigeria.
