True Colors

In True Colors, Oluwatoni, called Tony, rushes late to an interview at Blackbird Cafe. Amanda, the owner, hires her on probation after Tony convinces Amanda that she can sell herself. At home, Tony is married to Rotimi, a journalist chasing a promotion. She cooks an anniversary dinner from her cousin Michael's recipe, but Rotimi forgets the anniversary and dismisses her wish to try for a child after two years. Tony proves herself at work and is made full-time assistant manager. Cafe investor Dominic Da Silva sends Tony white roses and tells her they are from him. He kisses her in the car during a venue scouting trip despite her saying she is married, and Tony begins an affair with him. Amanda warns Tony not to try to win Dominic over, and Dominic's wife, Diane, returns home. At Lovers' Night, Dominic arrives with Diane, and Tony is hurt. Tony confronts Dominic, and Dominic says he loves her but suggests they pause the relationship. She throws him out, and when she learns she is pregnant she tells Dominic in his car. Dominic questions whether the child is his, and Tony worries about Rotimi's reaction. Diane learns of the pregnancy and threatens to ruin Tony. Tony storms into Dominic's office when she realizes he is connected to a job offer made to Rotimi, and she demands that he stay away from her family. At home, Rotimi finds the pregnancy test, and Tony admits that Dominic is the father. Rotimi calls her wicked, refuses her apologies, and packs his suitcase before leaving their home. Tony kneels and cries alone. Her cousin Michael finds her and tells her not to pretend she did not choose this path. He urges her to forgive herself for the sake of her child, and Tony continues working through her pain with his support. The closing scenes show Tony at Dream's Cafe, where she handles daily operations and cares for her young daughter.
