Storyline

Ejiro Dede, a divorce attorney known for ruthless efficiency, dominates a mediation session and secures a favorable settlement for her client. Her sister Onome, a television producer desperate to save her job, persuades Ejiro to appear on a new debate show called Ever After opposite Oluwademilade Adebayo, a charismatic wedding planner. Ejiro refuses at first but agrees when her firm implies she lacks the visibility needed for partnership. Meanwhile Ejiro maintains a stable but passionless relationship with Nosa, a supportive boyfriend who proposes marriage with pragmatic honesty, and her mother quietly engineers a reunion with Eric, the ex-boyfriend she paid to leave Ejiro a decade earlier. The show becomes a surprise hit and thrusts Ejiro and Demilade into a public rivalry that masks growing mutual respect and attraction. As they debate love and marriage on air their off-screen conversations deepen and challenge Ejiro's transactional worldview. Demilade shares his traumatic past of losing his mother young and growing up in an orphanage and explains his daily choice to believe in love. Ejiro's defenses crack when her mother confesses to paying Eric to break her heart and reveals the origin of Ejiro's inability to trust. Simultaneously Demilade receives a career-defining offer to lead a wedding resort in Santorini for a year and forces both to confront whether their connection can survive distance and Ejiro's fear of vulnerability. Ejiro spirals after her mother's confession and retreats into work and pushes Demilade away just as he prepares to leave for Santorini. A heated confrontation in a hallway exposes Demilade's hurt over her secrecy about Nosa's proposal and her emotional walls. He kisses her then walks away and demands she decide what she wants without fear dictating her choice. Ejiro seeks counsel from her mother who admits her own past trauma led to overprotection.
