Night Of The Kings

A young, terrified street criminal is sent to La MACA, an infamous prison located deep inside the Ivorian forest. The prison is completely lawless, ruled entirely by its inmates under a rigid code of customs. The terminally ill prison "king," Blackbeard, is facing a violent mutiny from rival factions. To stall for time and preserve his waning authority, Blackbeard invokes an ancient tradition during the rising of a blood-red moon: he designates the new arrival as the camp's "Roman" (Storyteller). The young man is forced to stand before the entire prison population and tell a captivating story. When a sympathetic inmate whispers to him that he will be executed the moment his tale concludes, Roman realizes he must weave a mystical narrative that lasts exactly until dawn to survive.
