Biography

EARLY LIFE

Odunlade Jonathan Adekola was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is originally from Otun-Ekiti in Ekiti State. He was raised in a strong Christian home his father was a Pastor in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), and his mother was a Deaconess. He attended St. John’s Primary School and St. Peter’s College in Abeokuta. He later studied at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and the University of Lagos.

PERSONAL LIFE

Odunlade Adekola is married to Ruth Adekola. The couple got married in 2003 and have been together for over 20 years. They are blessed with five children (mostly boys). He is widely known by his fans as "OPA" and is considered one of the most humble and grounded superstars in Nollywood.

CAREER

Odunlade Adekola is one of the biggest and most influential actors in the Yoruba film industry. He began his acting career in 1996 and has since starred in, produced, and directed hundreds of movies. He is famous for his incredible comic timing, energetic dance moves, powerful screen presence, and versatility. Some of his most popular films include: Sunday Dagboru, Alani Pamolekun, Mufu Oloosha Oko, Oyenusi, Lakatabu (2024), Warlord: Olori Ogun (2025) He is the founder and CEO of Odunlade Adekola Film Production (OAFP). Odunlade is widely regarded as the King of Yoruba Cinema and remains one of the highest-paid and most consistent Yoruba actors for over two decades.

Odunlade Adekola has won numerous major awards, including the AMVCA Award for Best Supporting Actor.
