EARLY LIFE
Babajide Saheed Awobona (Jide Awobona) was born on 9 February 1985 in Lagos State, Nigeria, and raised there, though he is a native of Ogun State. He is of Yoruba heritage and grew up in a Muslim family. He attended Wesley Memorial Primary School in Lagos for his primary education and Amuwo Odofin Secondary School for secondary education. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State. In 2025, he completed a Master of Science degree at Rome Business School (Lagos campus), marking 15 years since his first degree and emphasising lifelong learning (“The day you stop learning is the day you start dying”).

Jide Awobona is a Nigerian actor, scriptwriter, and filmmaker active since 2002. He trained with Jovies Perfection Press that same year. His career gained early momentum in 2003 with a major role in the Wale Adenuga-produced TV drama series Super Story: Last Honor. He rose to wider popularity for his role as Sam in the long-running sitcom Jenifa’s Diary (starting around 2013). He has worked extensively in both English-language and Yoruba Nollywood productions, often starring in and producing films.
