Eyimofe (This Is My Desire)

Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) follows two characters Mofe and Rosa who are both striving to escape the harsh realities of their lives by migrating to Spain and Italy respectively. Mofe is a middle-aged, hard-working factory technician and part-time security guard struggling to get by. He spends his days trying to navigate the bureaucratic corruption and endless paperwork required to secure a passport and a visa to Spain. Just as his plans seem to align, an unexpected family tragedy strikes his household, pulling him into financial quicksand. Suddenly, his dreams are deferred by the grueling reality of medical and funeral expenses, forcing him to face his grief while trapped in economic survival mode. Rosa is a young, ambitious hairdresser and bartender trying to fund a relocation to Italy with her pregnant teenage sister, Grace. Lacking financial leverage, Rosa is caught in a web of compromises. She balances a transactional relationship with an older, wealthy landlord, fields the empty promises of a young American-born Nigerian man, and gets entangled with a sketchy, predatory human trafficker who promises to fund their European travel in exchange for assigning rights over her sister's unborn baby. Though Mofe and Rosa live in the same neighborhood and briefly cross paths, their stories never fully merge. Instead, they serve as twin mirrors reflecting the structural failures, economic vulnerabilities, and quiet resilience of ordinary people who realize that sometimes, the future they desperately want must be painfully built right at home.
