Cynthia Ebijie

EARLY LIFE

Cynthia Ebijie hails from Edo State, Nigeria, and is based in Lagos. She is the first of five children. She developed an early interest in entertainment and began modelling as a child. In 2009 she won the Charming Kids Nigeria pageant and represented Nigeria in Istanbul, Turkey, where she earned titles including Miss Photogenic and Best Dancer; she also served as an ambassador for the organisation. In 2015 she reached the top 10 of the Pearl Look beauty pageant. She later pursued tertiary education in Accounting at Lagos State University while building her acting career.

CAREER

Ebijie entered acting around 2018 after attending auditions. She made her screen debut in the short film Marooned, playing a character named Grace. She gained wider recognition as Bimpe, a troublesome cousin, in the Africa Magic series My Siblings and I. Her breakthrough international role came as Grace, the pregnant younger sister of Rosa (played by Temi Ami-Williams), in the critically acclaimed film Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) (2020), directed by Arie and Chuko Esiri. The film premiered at the Berlinale and received strong reviews for its portrayal of everyday Lagos life and the desire to migrate. Other notable credits include: Lead role as Sade in Sade Takes Lagos (2019) Young Nikita in Chika Ike’s Small Chops (2020) On My Honour (2021) Home Is You (2024) All of Us (as Esther) No Good Girl, A Romantic Comedy Featuring Lara and Tobi, Girl Meets Boy, and others. She has also worked as a television host (including for AFROMUSICPOP on DStv) and continues to take acting classes to refine her craft. She has expressed admiration for actors such as Taraji P. Henson.

Cynthia Ebijie is regarded as a rising talent in Nollywood, noted for her natural screen presence and ability to portray youthful, relatable characters. She balances acting with her studies and maintains an active presence on social media. Her work in Eyimofe in particular helped elevate her profile both locally and on the international festival circuit.
