Ewa Aganyin

Romoke sells Ewa Aganyin from a roadside stall in Lagos. Sly beats her and takes the money she earns each day. Nate comes back from abroad to a large house he shares with his partner Natasha. Romoke delivers a meal to the house and Nate offers her a job as a live-in cook with a steady wage and a room of her own. She accepts, hoping to leave Sly behind. Sly finds out and demands half of her new salary. Natasha resents Romoke's presence and speaks to her with cruelty. Dave, Nate's friend, asks Nate to help him buy a farm. Romoke tells Dave about Sly's violence. Meanwhile Natasha meets her lover Atanga in secret and they plan to steal from Nate. Masked men grab Romoke and her friend Afusa off the street and bundle them into a van. The kidnappers call Nate and demand twenty million naira for Romoke's release. Nate gathers the money and goes to the drop point. Police surround the exchange and arrest Natasha and Atanga as they try to collect the ransom. At the same time officers raid a hideout where a man in a bucket hat guards Romoke and Afusa. The police free both women and take the kidnappers into custody. In the hospital Nate sits by Romoke's bed and apologizes for dismissing her fears and for the danger his household brought her. Romoke listens and accepts his apology. They hold hands and the tension between them softens. With Natasha and Atanga in custody and the kidnappers jailed, Romoke stays in the house under Nate and Dave's protection. She begins to plan a future that does not include Sly.
