Biography
EARLY LIFE
Daniel Lloyd was born in Lagos State and hails from the Ijaw ethnic group in Bayelsa State. His father worked as an engineer for Shell and encouraged him to pursue engineering. Lloyd graduated with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). He has spoken about growing up in a polygamous family with siblings and moving between locations (including Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Warri) due to his father’s job transfers. His decision to leave engineering for acting initially disappointed his father, though the relationship later improved.
CAREER
Lloyd entered the entertainment industry around 2006. While in his final year at university he appeared in the film Tempted to Touch. He gained early visibility through the television soap opera Pradah, in which he played the character Patrick. Before fully committing to acting he worked as a talent manager. He managed Nigerian artist Timaya after meeting him at the “Straight to Star” talent-hunt show in Port Harcourt in 2006 (Lloyd competed in the acting category while Timaya was in the music category). He later left management to focus on acting. He is noted as one of the first Nigerian actors to appear in a Bollywood-related project, starring as Jude in the film J.U.D.E. In 2016 he received a nomination for Most Promising Actor of the Year (English) at the City People Entertainment Awards. Selected film and television credits include: Pradah (as Patrick) Desperate Baby Mama (2015) Gidi Blues (2016) Timeless Love (2016) The Wrong Number (2016) The Friend Zone (2017) Hire a Man (2017) Flirting with Fifty (2017) The Chronicles (2018) Akpe: Return of the Beast (2019/2020) Fatal Attraction (2020) Lonely Nights (2021) Albatross (2022) Recompense (2023) Once Upon a Vow (2024) Aso Ebi Diaries (2025) He has also appeared in numerous other Nollywood titles and has spoken about deliberately avoiding typecasting (particularly early “gigolo” roles) in order to play a wider range of characters.
PERSONAL LIFE
In 2019, Daniel Lloyd married Nollywood actress Empress Njamah. He has generally kept further details of his family life private. Earlier in his career he described himself as focused on building his professional path.
Daniel Lloyd has built a career that bridges Nollywood with international collaborations (including Bollywood) while drawing on his engineering background and early experience in talent management. He continues to work steadily in film and remains active on social media.
