Biography
EARLY LIFE
Chidi Geoff Azubuike Mokeme Jr. was born on March 17, 1972, in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. His parents are Angelina (Nwokolo), a school teacher, and Geoffrey Azubuike Mokeme Sr., an insurance broker. He is the eldest of four siblings. He attended Salvation Army Primary School in Surulere, Lagos, and Federal Government College in Minna, Niger State. He earned a National Diploma in Computer Science from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu State and later pursued a Higher National Diploma (HND) at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. He is multilingual, fluent in Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba.
CAREER
Mokeme began his career in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a commercial and fashion model. He transitioned into acting in the late 1990s, featuring in over 150 films. From 2004 to 2014, he gained widespread recognition as the host of the reality television series "Gulder Ultimate Search" (GUS). He has also worked as a producer and director, making his directorial debut with "Bamboozler" in 2022. He is known for his versatile performances, including his role as the antagonist Major Gomos in the historical drama '76 and Scar in the Netflix series "Shanty Town."
PERSONAL LIFE
Chidi Mokeme married Jean Chinwe Olumba Mokeme, a US-based doctor and pharmacist, on April 28, 2012. They have a son named Noah. He also has an older son, Emem Daniel Mokeme, from a previous relationship with journalist Adia Ukoyen. In 2009, Mokeme launched a sex toys company. He is also involved in advocacy, humanitarian, and philanthropy work through his Chidi Mokeme Foundation.
