Bolaji Ogunmola

EARLY LIFE

Bolaji Ogunmola was born on 21 April 1992 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is the first of three children and the only daughter in her family (she has two younger brothers). She has described her childhood as relatively simple and has noted that her parents were supportive and liberal regarding her career choices. She attended Philomena Nursery and Primary School in Ebute Metta, Lagos, for her primary education. For secondary school she went to Ibadan, attending Yinka Bolarinwa College (also referred to as Yinbol College). She later studied Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the National Open University of Nigeria and is an alumna of the University of Ilorin. To develop her acting skills, she trained at the Royal Arts Academy in Surulere, Lagos. Her interest in performance began in church drama groups and continued at university.

CAREER

Ogunmola entered the industry through the 2013 Next Movie Star reality show. Her professional screen debut is widely cited as Okon Goes to School (around 2012). She gained significant attention for her dual role as Aida/Mystic in Sobi’s Mystic (2017), which was described as one of her most challenging performances and helped establish her as a promising talent. She has appeared in a wide range of films and series, including Tough Love (2017, as Monike), Tempted, All Shades of Wrong (2018), Levi (2019), Progressive Tailors Club (2021), A Simple Lie (2021), Living with Baami (2021), Broken Deal (2022), Watching Over You (2022), Step Family (2023), The Cook (2023), Pregnancy (2023), Ajosepo (2024), Japa (2024), Gingerrr (2025), and others. She has also featured in series such as Lekki Wives and Jenifa’s Diary. She has worked frequently with director Biodun Stephen (whom she has cited as a mentor and key figure in her breakthrough) and looks up to figures such as Mo Abudu and Oprah Winfrey. In 2020 she won Revelation of the Year (Female) at the Best of Nollywood Awards and has received other nominations (including at the City People Movie Awards). She has expanded into producing and entrepreneurship while maintaining a focus on craft over pure celebrity.

PERSONAL LIFE

Ogunmola has consistently kept her romantic life private. In interviews she has stated that she is single, independent, and focused on building her career and financial stability. She has emphasized that money and mutual respect are important elements in relationships and has spoken against skin bleaching. In early 2026 she faced online backlash over intimate/kissing scenes in films such as The Bloom After (with Daniel Etim-Effiong) and previously Summer Rain. She defended the scenes as professional storytelling, denied any off-screen relationship with her co-star, and briefly considered reducing her personal social-media engagement to focus on her work.

Ogunmola has spoken candidly about industry perceptions related to her physique, insisting that her body, presence, and talent are all part of her identity as a performer. She continues to work steadily in Nollywood across romantic dramas, family stories, and contemporary narratives, often emphasizing professionalism, consent, and strong storytelling in intimate scenes. She remains active on social media while advocating for better audience understanding of acting as craft.
