A Flicker Of Us

The movie A Flicker Of Us is a powerful drama about two childhood friends from a poor village. Lala and Tiwa make a pact to study hard and escape poverty with no distractions from boys. One night after exams, Tiwa breaks their promise and sleeps with a boy she meets at a party who calls himself Baby. Lala comes first in the scholarship exam while Tiwa misses the cut by one position. When Tiwa discovers she is pregnant, Lala betrays her by secretly reporting it to the scholarship board. Lala leaves for the UK and never looks back, leaving Tiwa to suffer alone. Fifteen years later, successful Lala returns home with her husband Novar after her mother's death. She meets Tiwa, now a struggling single mother of 15-year-old twins. Tiwa is bitter and angry at Lala for ruining her life. Lala feels guilty and arranges for the twins to study in the UK. The biggest shock comes when Novar learns the twins' father was nicknamed Baby. He realizes he is the man from that night - he is the father. When Tiwa sees Novar, everything comes out. Tiwa is heartbroken and believes Lala planned it all. In a very emotional scene, the two women cry and shout. But in the end, their sisterhood wins. They hug each other tightly and choose their friendship over the man who broke their lives.
