Who He Loves

Carl, a young professional, is engaged to Julie, a woman from a wealthy family. He maintains a secret affair with Ejiro, a hardworking fish seller who lives in a modest neighborhood with her father Palo, a chronic gambler. Because Palo exploits Ejiro's earnings to feed his lottery addiction, she endures financial strain. Carl's friend repeatedly urges him to honor his commitment to Julie for her father's business connections. Yet Carl finds emotional comfort in Ejiro's care and domestic devotion. Julie unknowingly advances Carl's career by referring him to a lucrative contract with June's Limited. Conflict rises when Julie discovers six million naira missing from Carl's account. The discovery leads to a heated confrontation that temporarily subsides after she explains the money helped a friend. Soon after Julie arrives at Carl's home unannounced and finds Ejiro at the gate. The encounter sparks a confrontation where Carl's infidelity is laid bare immediately. Despite Carl's denials Julie sees the truth and issues an ultimatum about their wedding. At the same time Julie's father threatens to withdraw investment from Carl's ventures. Carl's friend warns Ejiro's family that they must stay away from him. Carl ends the engagement and ejects Julie from his house without hesitation. Desperate to reclaim Ejiro, Carl tracks her down on the street, kneels publicly, and begs for a second chance, swearing he loves only her. Ejiro initially rejects his pleas, citing repeated betrayals, but eventually relents when he vows to make amends. Carl then formally approaches Palo to ask for Ejiro's hand in marriage, promising to sponsor her nursing education in Houston, Texas. Palo, impressed by Carl's sincerity and concrete plans, grants his blessing after Carl agrees to return with champagne for the traditional rites. With familial approval secured Carl and Ejiro reunite joyfully, embracing their future together.
