When It's Difficult

Malakai presses Ese for more sex after she says four rounds were enough. When she refuses, asking if she is his sex slave or partner, he says he provides luxury and expects obedience. Ronke wants Odili to give up Sundays, but his weekend fares are too good to lose. Ese needs a reliable driver for her wig business, so she hires Odili after he picks her up as a passenger. During a ride, Odili admits Ronke owns his car and his nights, and Ese admits Malakai paid for her mother's cancer care yet beats her and forces sex. A drunk driver killed Odili's parents and siblings, leaving him with his aunt. Odili is at Ese's place delivering wigs when Malakai arrives, accuses her of having a lover, dismisses Odili, and beats her badly. Hadiza, Ese's friend, tells her not to let the abuse pass. Malakai's wife Bianca has finally had enough, so she catches him with another woman and announces that a recording has been sent and that they will meet in court. Odili then learns his aunt sold his late mother's land for thirty-five million naira. She gave twenty million to him, paid part of Ese's mother's operation, and kept the rest. Odili, now free of Ronke's car, thanks his aunt and promises to use the money well. In front of his aunt, he asks Ese to build a future with him, and she says yes. Ronke arrives heartbroken but civil, and they part on friendly terms because Odili no longer wants to take advantage of her. Malakai faces divorce and legal consequences. Once Ese can afford her mother's operation, she leaves the abusive household.
