Storyline
Elaine is a 35-year-old advertising executive in Lagos who has stayed single since her fiancé William died five years ago. Her mother Nancy wants her married, and Chidera, her best friend, arranges a blind date with a surgeon that Elaine dismisses as a bore. Elaine focuses on her campaigns and ignores advice about her private life. Chief Marcus Osagie forces his son Nelson into the Lagos branch after Nelson ruins his own business. He expects Nelson to learn from Elaine, who built that branch. Nelson barges into her office, takes her chair, and treats her as an inferior, so Elaine has security remove him. He then asks his father to fire her, but Chief refuses and orders him to apologize. Nelson stays, and once the clashes stop, he sees the depth of her expertise. Duke, Elaine's ex-boyfriend, returns as a telecom client and uses the campaign to say he still loves her. He proposes marriage, and Elaine panics and refuses him because she is still affected by William's death. The stress brings on the collapse she suffers each year on William's anniversary, and she falls gravely ill and stays home. Nelson visits her with flowers, and Elaine lets her guard down. When Duke mocks her grief in a parking lot, Nelson warns him to leave. With support from Chidera and encouragement from Nancy, Elaine sees a therapist, gives away the engagement ring, and burns William's stocks. She tells Duke she cannot revisit the past and cuts him out of her life. On Valentine's Day, Nelson arrives at Elaine's home with a gift that brings back their shared childhood memories, and the two embrace and acknowledge their feelings. The relationship becomes serious, and Nelson and Elaine tell their parents together. Chief Marcus Osagie and Nancy welcome the union.
