Ije: The Journey
Ijé is an emotional story about sisterly love, the struggles of immigrants, and the cultural differences between Nigeria and the West when it comes to trauma, sexual assault, and racism. The film contrasts the peaceful rural life the sisters knew in Nigeria with the cold and intimidating world of an American courtroom. The story also explores the silence and stigma that often surround sexual assault in traditional communities. With emotional drama, legal twists, and unexpected revelations, Ijé keeps the audience guessing until its powerful and surprising ending.

Storyline
Ije: The Journey follows Chioma, a focused woman living in Nigeria who travels to Los Angeles, USA, to rescue her estranged older sister, Anya. Anya had left home years prior to chase the glittering "American Dream", but her life turns into an absolute nightmare when she is arrested and charged with the brutal murder of three men inside a Hollywood Hills mansion—including her own wealthy record-producer husband. Facing life in prison and a system heavily stacked against immigrants, Anya refuses to speak. Chioma must team up with a young, unproven defense attorney to unearth a deeply buried, painful family secret that could be the only key to winning Anya her freedom.
