Biography

EARLY LIFE

Larry Ulrich is originally from La Marque, Texas (located between Houston and Galveston). He participated in acting classes and appeared in a local soap opera that aired on public access channels while living in Texas. He later moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting career.

CAREER

Ulrich began acting in Texas before relocating to Los Angeles around 2007. Early on, he booked leading roles in independent projects and gained international notice with a role in the Nigerian film Ijé: The Journey (2010, credited as Ulrich Que as Jalen). He also appeared in projects such as The DL Chronicles, The Chadwick Journals, and Friday Night Lights (uncredited). After a period of slowed work and personal challenges, he enrolled at Richard Lawson’s acting school in North Hollywood, reignited his passion, and began writing, directing, and starring in his own short films. Notable independent works include: The Real Reality (2016) Dear God (2018) Battered (2018/2019) I’m Not Special (2021) Glass Half Empty (2018), Light in the Sky (2018), One Bite (2018), and others He has a guest credit on the series All American (as Eric Braun, 2022). More recently, he has focused on AI-driven filmmaking, writing, directing, acting in, and generating full narrative projects himself. A key recent project is Rufus: The Compton Cowboy (2026 TV series). He emphasizes creating impactful, purpose-driven stories that often address themes such as disability, domestic issues, faith, competition under pressure, and personal transformation. His stated approach prioritizes quality over quantity and full creative ownership rather than waiting for traditional industry gatekeepers.

PERSONAL LIFE

Larry Ulrich has spoken openly about early struggles after moving to Los Angeles, including periods of financial hardship, sleeping on friends’ couches, and relying on public assistance. He later stabilized by taking full-time work assisting at-risk young adults with high school diplomas and job placement, and has held roles connected to education and workforce development. Faith is a central theme in his interviews and creative work; he frequently references God and Jesus Christ as foundational to his journey and storytelling. He founded Ulrich Entertainment Group, with a long-term goal of building a library of impactful movies, TV shows, reality programming, and documentaries available via streaming.

Ulrich has balanced creative work with professional roles in education, workforce development, and arts/culture-related positions in Los Angeles. He has described his career path as one of persistence through repeated rejection, financial hardship, and the need to create his own opportunities. His long-term vision includes building the Ulrich Studio as a streaming platform featuring original, impactful programming. He continues to develop projects independently while seeking wider distribution for works such as Rufus: The Compton Cowboy.
