Unlucky

After a road-rage incident, Lucky, a first-class graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is homeless and jobless in Lagos. His friend Peter has thrown him out. He begs a street food vendor named Moji for a meal, and she insults him before feeding him. He asks to sleep in her shop, and Moji reluctantly agrees after warning him to leave early. The next morning she scolds him and gives him breakfast. She offers him a small job at her stall. Lucky serves customers and washes dishes. He insists he deserves a corporate job. When Moji suggests he drive a taxi for a wealthy customer named Chief, he refuses, calling it beneath him. After failed interviews, he accepts the arrangement. With Moji's encouragement and Chief's car, he earns money and gains confidence. He reconnects with his old university friend Festus, a successful businessman, who recommends him for a job at Adams Group. There Lucky impresses Laura, the boss's daughter, and she takes a personal interest in him. He dates Laura and moves into her family's boys quarters. He stops calling Moji and ignores her visits. When Moji tracks him down, he breaks up coldly, saying she cannot help him advance. Festus confronts him, but Lucky insists Laura is his only way forward. Laura grows bored, and he catches her with another man. She ends the relationship. Laura and her father have him arrested for a serious crime, and the police drain his bank account. He loses his job, his car, and his home. After his release, he tries to apologize to Moji, but someone at her shop says she has married and moved away. He turns to Festus, who chastises him. Festus agrees to buy him a meal. At the restaurant, Festus introduces his wife, and Lucky is stunned to see Laura. She dismisses him, saying she is happily married and not interested in his apologies. Lucky is left alone at the table.
