EARLY LIFE

Moc Oge Madu was born on September 2, 1986, in Sokoto State, Nigeria. He hails from Ezele Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was born into a Christian family as the first of six children. His early years were spent in Abuja, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He later pursued a degree in Theatre Arts at Imo State University, Owerri. To further hone his skills in filmmaking, he attended the PEFTI Film Institute in Lagos, specializing in cinematography.

CAREER

Moc Madu, professionally known as Moc Madu and popularly referred to as "Onwa Idemili," is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur. Over the years, Moc Madu has carved a niche for himself in Nollywood, not just through his acting prowess but also via his entrepreneurial ventures. His Nollywood journey began humbly in 2003, working in technical support roles such as lighting technician, boom operator, and continuity supervisor on several film sets. His on-screen debut came in 2007 when he was cast in the BBC World Service Trust drama "Wetin Dey." In 2015, he experienced a breakthrough with his critically acclaimed performance as "Chike" in the film "Afamefuna." Following that success, Madu became a sought-after actor, starring in films like "Wo.Men Are Scum" (2018) and "Brotherhood" (2022). In 2023, he starred in "A Mother’s Love," earning him a Best Lead Actor nomination at the Achievers’ Awards International in 2024. Beyond acting, Madu has also written, directed, and produced several low-budget films under his production outfit, Mocwhite IMAGE. His directorial works are known for fusing traditional Igbo storytelling with modern urban narratives. He has worked alongside Nollywood talents including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), Alexx Ekubo, Zubby Michael, Chacha Eke, Destiny Etiko, and Jerry Amilo. In February 2025, Moc Madu married popular Nollywood actress Ruby Orjiakor in a traditional marriage ceremony held in her hometown in Imo State. The event quickly became a subject of public debate and media headlines due to controversies that followed. Media personality Radiogad questioned the legitimacy of the marriage, alleging Moc Madu leveraged Ruby's fame and finances. Moc Madu’s elder sister, Nkem Madu, defended him, showcasing real estate development projects allegedly owned by Moc Madu. The situation intensified when a woman claiming to be Moc Madu’s former partner accused him of neglecting a child they supposedly had together, posting an emotional video in early March 2025. Moc Madu has remained silent on these allegations. These controversies have placed Moc Madu in the spotlight not just as an entertainer, but as a public figure navigating the complexities of fame, family, and perception in Nigeria’s highly scrutinized Nollywood ecosystem. In May 2025, Moc Madu and Ruby Ojiakor had their white wedding in Asaba, Delta State, a grand affair graced by top Nollywood personalities, friends, and family.
