Storyline

In She Gets Me, a romantic comedy from Kenya, two people meet by chance and fall hard. Joe Kinyua plays the man, funny from Njoro wa Uba show, who shares jokes and pains with the woman. Angela Mwandanda acts as the lead lady, known from County 49, full of heart and smarts. They connect deep at first, talk about life and dreams in Nairobi spots. But after marriage, small mix-ups grow big. He feels money stress and man roles, she wants more listen and care. Fights start over not said things, like family needs and work. It leads to divorce, where they see the real issue was not get each other, but not hear right. They learn to talk true and fix self first. Directed by Millicent Ogutu in her first film, she was producer before. From Kibanda Pictures, it came out February 11 at Kenya National Theatre. Tickets at mookh.com. The movie is mostly these two actors, like a play on screen. Themes show love needs work, men and women views, and city life pressure. No big cast besides them, but it feels real with laughs and sad parts. In end, they don't get back fast, but learn from split. Maybe hint at new start. Promo calls it deep love with miscommunication.
