Bruce Makau studied Mass Communication at Maseno University.
CAREER
Bruce Makau is a Kenyan actor, producer, and director based in Nairobi. He began his acting career in 2004 in church productions and made his professional stage debut in 2005 as a supporting actor in Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People with Phoenix Players. He later played Romeo in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and expanded his stage work with the Heartstrings Ensemble Theatre while at university. His stage credits include playing nine different characters in Kaggia (2015) and a hospice psychiatrist in Impervious (2019). As a director, he has helmed shows such as Monica, Nganya, Varshita, Auntie Boss, and the short film My Faith (2015). On television, he has appeared in Maisha Magic shows like Selina, Monica (2018, as Amos), Ma Empress, Kina (2020, as Jabali), Crime and Justice (2022, as Mark Soit, 1 episode), and Maisha Makutano (2025, as KJ Kabando). His film roles include a forensic officer in 40 Sticks (2020) and a role in the short I Quit (2016)
Makau won the Sanaa Theatre Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2015 for Kaggia and in 2019 for Impervious.
