Renewed

Gloria is always angry and bitter in the movie Renewed. She shouts at every maid and makes them cry. One maid burns her dress by mistake because of fever but Gloria says she is not a doctor. Monday helps the maid. Another maid Ada serves tea without asking and Gloria knocks the cup down. Ada leaves in tears. Monday pays her and says Gloria carries deep pain inside. Many maids quit. Friends and family stop coming. Monday tells Gloria she needs help but she gets upset. He prays alone to God to save his wife. He tries to take her out but she pulls away. New maid Oma arrives. Gloria forbids her from saying sorry and makes her count one million grains of rice for jollof. Monday is shocked. His aunt Mama comes to pray but Gloria wants her out. Oma gets malaria and Gloria wants to fire her. Oma packs to leave but Gloria cries and tells her sad story. Bandits killed Gloria’s parents and siblings long ago. She married Monday and they had twins. After church a drunk driver crashed their car. The twins died and doctors removed her womb so she can never have more children. The locked door is the twins’ old nursery. That pain makes her cruel to everyone. Oma stays. Gloria asks Monday to sleep with Oma so she can carry a baby for them. Monday hates the idea but Gloria begs. She says it is the only way for peace and their marriage to survive. Oma agrees. Monday finally says yes because he loves her. Oma gets pregnant. Gloria becomes kind and cares for her like a sister. She stops Oma from working. At the end Oma gives birth to a healthy boy named Matthew. The house fills with joy.
