Storyline

The film opens at The Yard restaurant where owner Amaka berates and strikes her staff, especially waitress Norma. When a customer grabs Norma's arm, she reacts defensively, but Amaka sides with the customer and slaps Norma. Amaka then fires Norma over a staged poisoning accusation despite CCTV footage proving the customer assaulted her. Amaka docks pay and forces other employees to crawl while her son Alex watches with discomfort. Alex's girlfriend Benita arrives, jealous of Norma, and Amaka embraces Benita as the daughter she never had. Amaka invites Benita to dinner and sides with her in a parking‑lot argument that leaves Alex isolated. Alex secretly helps Norma, who now washes dishes for a living, but his mother catches him and her resentment deepens. Norma collapses and is hospitalized, where doctors diagnose epistaxis and neoplasia requiring urgent treatment costing 4.5 million naira. Desperate, Alex withdraws the sum from Amaka's account, triggering a furious confrontation at the hospital where Amaka demands her card back and denounces Norma as a stranger. Benita pressures Alex to choose between her and Norma, and Amaka manipulates Benita into becoming her ally, insisting Alex apologize to Benita and cut ties with the wretched girl. An elderly woman named Cassandra arrives at the hospital and addresses Amaka by name, revealing she ran the orphanage where Amaka abandoned a newborn daughter decades earlier. Cassandra discloses that the sick young woman Lauren is that child and that Lauren is Norma. Amaka collapses in disbelief, realizing she has tormented her own daughter, and falls to her knees weeping while singing an Igbo lullaby as she begs forgiveness. Amaka and Norma embrace tearfully, the lullaby bridging their lost years. The family gathers at home where gifts are exchanged, laughter returns, and Amaka shares a meal with her children. Alex and Benita reconcile, and the household finds a fragile peace rooted in truth and acceptance.
