Lucky Star

Lovelyn, a first-class graduate, watches her mother fade after a road accident, the hospital demanding money she does not have. Desperate, she takes a tutoring position for Kelvin, the spoiled son of Mr. Bernard, in the film Lucky Star. Kelvin dismisses her lessons, preferring music and parties, and when Lovelyn begs Mr. Bernard for the agreed 1.5 million naira, he refuses until he sees improvement. Kelvin continues to mock her, recording her pleas and ignoring her teaching. Her mother's condition worsens, and with the landlord changing the locks, Lovelyn breaks down in front of Kelvin, confessing her struggles. He remains indifferent, and she storms out, defeated. Mr. Bernard discovers the truth about his son's behavior and Lovelyn's situation. Kelvin, stricken with guilt, begins studying on his own and tracks down Lovelyn to apologize. But when he finds her, she is in mourning—her mother has died. Kelvin waits outside her home day after day, begging her to return. Eventually, Lovelyn agrees, and she returns to tutor a now-committed Kelvin. His grades improve rapidly. Impressed by the transformation, Mr. Bernard pays Lovelyn the full 5 million naira, far more than she asked. He also uses his connections to secure her a job at an oil company. Lovelyn accepts, grateful for the chance to rebuild her life, carrying the memory of her mother but stepping into a future she could not have imagined.
