Just Us

In Just Us, Akin and Mabel bicker over small things. Akin is obsessed with football and slow to get ready for church. Mabel tells him he is jobless and does not take care of her, and he fires back that she is a brat. The real trouble is that Akin is having an affair with Debbie, who keeps pushing him to leave his wife. Mabel notices his late nights and secret phone calls, so she confides in her father. Her father tells her to be patient. Her father pays a visit and urges her to cook and humor Akin, but the tension does not go away. Debbie gets a threatening call from Mabel and grows more desperate, and Mabel accepts a major role at her father's company. Akin's cousin Felix arrives for a work project and senses the discord right away. Felix warns Akin that cheating will destroy him, and Akin dismisses the warning. An old friend, Christopher, gives Mabel a ride, and Akin's jealousy leads to bitter confrontations. Then Mabel sees a video that confirms Akin's infidelity. Akin visits Debbie to end the affair, but she drugs him and he wakes up disoriented. He accuses her, storms out, and rushes home to Mabel. His confession is that Debbie was an error in judgment, and he begs for one last chance. Mabel hesitates but softens. Akin makes amends by cooking breakfast for her, and he apologizes and says he has been playing with fire. They later share a warm dinner with Auntie B, where Akin lovingly feeds Mabel.
