Biography

EARLY LIFE

Dil was born in London and spent some of his early years in Nigeria before moving back to London in the mid-1990s. He studied at Southwark College and later earned a degree in Music and Sound Technology from West London University. He began producing music on a PlayStation 2 and caught the attention of Simon Britton, leading to his collaboration with Red Rhythm in 2004 as a music producer.

Dil Chike Ajufo, also known as Mr DiL, is a British-Nigerian actor, singer, and record producer. He is also a film editor, audio sound engineer, and an AMVCA nominee. He is known for his work on films such as Anikulapo, She Must Be Obeyed, Sugar Rush, Nneka The Pretty Serpent, Introducing The Kuju’s, and The Order Of Things. In music, he is known for the Kasanova movie soundtrack 'Don’t Let Go' and his song 'Pretty Girls' featuring Iyanya. He has also collaborated with Yemi Alade on 'Temperature' and worked with artists like Wizkid, Boyz II Men, Leona Lewis, Michelle Williams, and Electric Giant Beatz. He won a silver sales award for his work on the Lavelle Smith Bodylicious soundtrack. His production company is Trakk Studios. He was part of Red Rhythm's producer, songwriter, and remix team alongside Simon Britton and Cliff Randal, with credits including Ashanti, Aaliyah, Sean Paul, Run DMC, and Missy Elliott. He started his solo career in 2010, releasing singles like 'Acapella' (featuring Praiz and Lynxxx) and 'Pretty Girls' (featuring Iyanya). In 2019, he began his film career as a sound designer and audio specialist, introducing 5.1 surround sound to Nigerian cinemas, starting with 'The Reunion'. He worked on 'Sugar Rush' and 'Nneka The Pretty Serpent', which earned him an AMVCA nomination for best sound editor. He started acting in 2021, appearing in films such as Eva’s Love Story, Just Us, and The Devil is a Liar.

PERSONAL LIFE

In 2004, Dil appeared alongside Simon Britton in the NBC America/Bravo TV show 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'. The show went outside of the United States for a one-off special in the UK, where Dil, Simon Britton, and Cliff Randal ended the show with a gig at the Scala in London for a CD release launch party.
