Half & Half

Kemi and Osaze sit before a relationship counselor to finalize their divorce. In 'Half & Half', the counselor asks about the house, and each claims a larger share, so the counselor suggests selling it and splitting the proceeds equally. The couple accepts and agrees to keep living in the same house in separate halves until the sale is done. The setup causes daily arguments over boundaries, and Osaze refuses to wash the dishes. Kemi tells her friend Angie she feels freed, and Osaze tells a colleague the marriage was a trap. Flashbacks show the marriage had already broken: Kemi's work leaves Osaze lonely, his mother stays and disapproves, and a 'secret admirer' gift sets off an accusation. They attend a couples' retreat run by their boss, where exercises force them to face each other and hold hands. Osaze starts opening her car door, leaving a post-it about dinner, and repairing her car, and Kemi begins looking forward to these signs. When a real estate agent brings an offer for the house, Kemi finds keys and a lease for an apartment. She assumes Osaze is moving on, so she accepts the offer and tells him. Heated words follow, and she says she will not beg him to stay. Osaze says the apartment was for his sister, and that he meant to stay in the house. Relieved and ashamed, they talk about their fears, and Osaze confesses he still loves her. Kemi admits she wants to fix the marriage. They embrace in the driveway and promise to work on their relationship. Later they return to the same counselor and announce they want to marry again. The counselor congratulates them, and the two walk out smiling.
