I Choose You

Lola’s carefully structured routine with her daughter Adanna is jolted when ex-husband Uzo drops by without warning, awakening Adanna’s persistent dream that her parents might reconcile, while Lola’s friend Amanda insists she’s letting him intrude too freely. Uzo’s live-in girlfriend Chinenye tries to win Adanna over, but the child’s frosty reception and pointed preference for her mother signal trouble ahead. Compounding the friction, Lola reconnects with old university acquaintance Emmanuel, sparking a relationship that soon arouses Uzo’s concern and Chinenye’s frustration, especially after a tense encounter when Uzo walks in on Emmanuel at Lola’s home. Adanna’s sudden illness drags Uzo back into the family fold, his frantic dash to her bedside driving a wedge between him and Chinenye, who accuses him of being unable to let go.
