Biography

EARLY LIFE

Stella Udeze was born on 15 August 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Agbarakwe Udeze. She is the second of six children in a Christian family that hails from Orlu in Imo State (southeastern Nigeria). She grew up in Lagos, where she completed her primary and secondary education (sources mention schools including Tenderfield Primary School and Emergency Comprehensive High School). Although her mother supported her early interest in acting and being in the spotlight, her father insisted she further her education. She went on to study English Education at Imo State University. After graduation she completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Katsina State.

CAREER

Stella Udeze began her professional acting career in 2013 by attending auditions. She took a brief break for further studies (including a management/event management course) and returned more fully in 2014. After NYSC she worked for about two years as a marketer in a microfinance bank in Katsina State. She found the job monotonous and unfulfilling, so she resigned to pursue acting full-time — a decision she has said she has no regrets about. Her mother had noticed her childhood desire to be in the spotlight and encouraged her interest in acting after secondary school. She has built a steady career in Nollywood, appearing in numerous films across romantic, family, and dramatic genres. Notable credits include: Before Getting Married (2016) A Week to My Wedding (2016) Melting Point (2016) Double Stud (2017) The Other Wife (2018) Joro (alongside Destiny Etiko) Bleeding King Leah’s Offer (2021) Breathless Moments (2022) Trampled, Dark Petals, When She Left, Kosi’s Gift (2023) Ojoché (2024; selected for the Africa International Film Festival / AFRIFF) Other titles such as The Only Way, A Bet on Love, Karma and I, Deputy Wife, and more. She has earned a nomination for Fast Rising Actor (Female) at The Intellects Awards and is recognised for her versatility and screen presence. She has expressed ambitions to build her own production team and to work alongside Hollywood actresses. She is also active in creating content (including via “Stella Udeze TV” on YouTube) and has been involved in producing projects.

PERSONAL LIFE

Stella Udeze is unmarried. She maintains a relatively private personal life and has not confirmed romantic rumours that occasionally circulate online. In interviews she has spoken openly about the challenges actresses face in relationships, attributing many difficulties to societal stereotypes. She has stated that a large percentage of men in Nigeria wrongly associate acting with prostitution, leading to trust issues, and has urged people to distinguish between individuals rather than judge the entire profession. She describes herself as someone who prioritises self-awareness and walks away from situations that do not feel right.

Stella Udeze remains active on social media, sharing updates about her work, personal reflections, and lifestyle content.
