Storyline
Margaret, an older woman working as a maid, is fired by her employer Jeff, who feels sorry for her frail health. She pleads to stay, insisting she has nowhere to go, and Jeff reluctantly agrees. Over time, he comes to see her as a mother figure and vows to care for her. Meanwhile, Sandra, Margaret's estranged daughter, lives with her abusive boyfriend Dave. Believing Margaret is a witch—a conviction planted by a pastor after the deaths of Sandra's father and twin brother—Sandra has cut off all contact with her mother. Jeff, who loves Sandra, rescues her from Dave and takes her into his home. Sandra is initially grateful, but when she discovers Margaret is Jeff's housekeeper, she becomes hostile. She secretly abuses Margaret, calling her a witch and forcing her to eat spoiled food. Jeff remains unaware of the abuse but notices Sandra's disdain. Sandra's friend Norah urges reconciliation, but Sandra refuses, insisting Margaret is evil. Jeff's friend warns him that Sandra may be using him, but Jeff defends her. The climax arrives when Jeff catches Sandra force-feeding Margaret spoiled food and demanding she admit to being a witch. Horrified, Jeff kicks Sandra out of the house, declaring that Margaret is his mother and he will not tolerate disrespect. Devastated, Sandra realizes she has lost Jeff. She seeks help from Norah, who tells her to apologize to her mother first. Sandra reluctantly goes to Margaret and begs her to intercede with Jeff. Margaret, though hurt, agrees to talk, but Jeff refuses to see Sandra again. Margaret leaves Jeff's house to return to her late husband's village, hoping to allow Sandra to be happy. Jeff discovers her letter and is distraught. He and Sandra search for her and find her at her husband's home. Sandra sincerely apologizes, admitting she was wrong to believe the pastor and asking for forgiveness. Margaret forgives her, and Jeff proposes to Sandra. She accepts, and the three embrace.
