Boy Trouble

In Boy Trouble, Amanda cannot pay for her younger sister Dara's cancer treatment. Tiwa, Henry's stepmother, offers a deal: cover Dara's medical bills if Amanda poses as Henry's girlfriend and reports on Henry. Henry has just survived an accident that erased the past year of his memory. Amanda accepts the deal and attends his father's memorial. She embraces Henry as his girlfriend. He is confused, and the only memory he can summon is of Amanda being caught with his wallet in a supermarket. Amanda cares for Henry through his recovery. She brings food, gives him a journal, and takes him on walks. He grows used to her, but he has migraines and a nightmare about a man pushing him down stairs. Tiwa pressures Amanda for updates and threatens to destroy everyone Amanda loves. Henry's family lawyer refuses Tiwa's demand to change the late patriarch's will, and Tiwa becomes bolder. She gives Amanda a small bottle for Henry. After Henry takes it, his headaches get worse. Then Nadine arrives and says she is Henry's real girlfriend, showing him photographs. Henry confronts Amanda and remembers her as the girl who stole his wallet. Amanda admits that Tiwa hired her, threatened Dara, and gave her the pills. Henry realizes Tiwa may be poisoning him as she poisoned his father. He asks Amanda to help expose the plot, and together they pretend Henry is suicidal so people rush to his door and the truth comes out. Afterward, the hospital tells Amanda that Dara's bills have been paid in full. Dara's surgery can go ahead. Henry finds Amanda and says he does not want the money back. He asks for a do-over and reintroduces himself as Henry, a regular guy whose favorite food is fried plantain and beans. Amanda laughs, introduces herself, and promises she will never hurt him the way she did before. They embrace.
