Eddy Oboh

EARLY LIFE

Eddy Oboh was born into a family of eight in Enugu Ezike and spent his formative years in Onitsha, Anambra State, in Eastern Nigeria. These experiences shaped his early interest in storytelling and cinema. While studying Electrical/Electronic Engineering at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, he began writing scripts and traveled to Onitsha to pitch stories to movie marketers. Although early attempts met with unfulfilled promises, his passion persisted. He briefly left Nigeria before returning more determined to pursue acting.

CAREER

Oboh entered Nollywood acting around 2018 and has since featured in over 50 movies and television soaps. Credits include roles in The Incident, House 69, Tinsel, Super Story, Dangerous Love, Loving in Pain, The Chameleon, No Wrong Choice, Dorothy (Dorathy), Restless, Dirty Sunday, Concession (2020, also as producer), Tussle (2021, also as producer), Loud: Live Out Ur Dream (2020), and more recent titles such as Rainbow of Lies (with director Teco Benson), Amatekun (Netflix feature), Double Standard, Love Again, Men Don’t Cry, Perfect Peace, Miss Suspicion, Village Girl, and others listed on professional databases. He approaches acting with continuous training, workshops, script analysis, observation of peers, rehearsal, feedback, and a willingness to take diverse roles. He has also worked as a producer and scriptwriter. In addition to on-screen work, he leverages social media to connect with fans and industry professionals. PERSONAL LIFE

Oboh keeps much of his private life out of the public eye. He is married. He is the CEO of Etexglobal Realties Ltd., a real estate company based in Lagos, and describes himself as an entrepreneur, IT specialist, and philanthropist. He has expressed interest in music (though not pursued professionally at the same level) and values lifelong learning across fields including engineering, linguistics, real estate, IT, and acting. His life mantra is “Embrace diversity and pursue lifelong learning.” He enjoys traditional Esan cuisine, such as Omor ebe (a black soup with goat meat and stockfish, served with pounded yam).

Oboh has spoken about industry challenges including competition, inconsistent income, typecasting, piracy, and varying production conditions, while emphasizing passion and determination. He advocates for Nollywood growth through higher production quality, innovative storytelling, international collaborations, film festivals, digital distribution, professionalism, training, and market research. He views the entry of skitmakers into traditional filmmaking as a positive evolution when adapted thoughtfully. Fashion serves as personal expression for him, with preferences for well-tailored native wear, suits, and casual styles.
