The Price Of Love

In The Price Of Love, Sammy and his wife Eno live in a cramped compound where their landlord Lalude harasses them daily. Sammy owes Chief Ekuweme fifteen million naira after a failed migration attempt left him scammed and briefly imprisoned, and Eno secured his release by promising repayment in six months. They are evicted and move into an unfinished building. Sammy takes grueling work carrying cement bags for five hundred naira each, and a coworker introduces him to painkillers to endure the physical agony. Eno loses her job after resisting sexual advances from her employer's son. The pressure mounts as the deadline to repay Chief Ekuweme looms. Then Sammy collapses on the job and is rushed to Doren Wellness Centre, where doctors diagnose complete kidney failure from years of excessive painkiller use up to thirteen tablets daily. A transplant is his only hope, costing thirty million naira. Eno begs every creditor. Chief Ekuweme mocks her audacity, the landlord refuses, and a wealthy acquaintance named Max demands sex in return for the money.
