Bend Or Break

Andy arrives in Lagos from Port Harcourt hoping to find work through his cousin but is immediately robbed of his phone and belongings by two men working together. Stranded, he meets Pauline, a restaurant owner who takes pity on him and drives him to her home where he meets her daughter Mimi and receives a job at the restaurant. Andy quickly proves his capability and forms a connection with Mimi, though their budding romance is complicated when Andy's friend Alex reveals he had posed as a wealthy suitor as part of a bet to test Mimi's loyalty. Andy confesses the scheme but insists his feelings for Mimi are genuine, and the deception deepens their bond. Pauline discovers the relationship and vehemently opposes it, citing Andy's status as an employee and his lack of financial standing, so she fires him and orders his belongings thrown out before intensifying by hiring thugs to intimidate and beat him. Andy fights off the attackers while protecting Mimi, and Mimi confronts her mother, refusing to end the relationship and accusing her of class prejudice. The conflict drives Mimi to threaten running away. Pauline doubles down and vows to destroy Andy completely. Meanwhile, Mimi's father Kenneth returns unexpectedly from London after being alerted by Mimi's distress and moves to mediate the intensifying feud. Kenneth confronts Pauline, arguing that Mimi is an adult entitled to choose her partner and warning that Pauline's interference could drive their daughter to self-harm, but Pauline remains hostile, yet Kenneth insists on handling the situation. Andy, now staying with a friend and actively job hunting, reassures Mimi of his commitment. At a turning point, Andy gathers Pauline, Kenneth, and their friends and delivers a heartfelt confession admitting the initial bet and declaring his deep love for Mimi before proposing marriage with a ring and asking her to stay in his heart forever.
