Cassie and Ray are driving through a coastal town when news of a house from her father should feel like a blessing—until Ray's jealousy turns a friendly hug into a bitter accusation. That old schoolmate, Williams, is struggling at a garage, and Chief, Cassie's father, pulls him into the family business as thanks for saving his life, calling him son. The gesture alarms Ray, who sees Williams as an obstacle to inheriting Chief's wealth, so Ray and his accomplice Sarah decide to poison Chief with slow patience.
