All That Glitters

Basira runs a small food stall in Lagos and sends every spare naira to her unemployed boyfriend Chucks. She even sells the land she inherited to pay for his visa and flight, and her roommate Efe warns her that Chucks is using her. Chucks leaves for the U.S. and the money stops. Basira takes up hawking rice with a wheelbarrow to survive, but a traffic accident shatters her leg and leaves her bedridden and penniless. She stops eating and cannot pay her rent until Dennis, a neighbor who runs a logistics business, offers to move her meals onto a delivery app in All That Glitters. They work side by side every day, and Dennis begins teaching her English and table manners while he falls in love with her. Basira appreciates his kindness but her loyalty stays with Chucks. Chucks appears at her door months later, gaunt and ashamed, and tells her he was jailed in the U.S. on false drug charges and only released after the Nigerian community raised funds for his deportation. Basira is torn between the man she sacrificed everything for and the man who gave her a new life. At the same time Dennis's ex-girlfriend Stella moves into his apartment claiming she has a terminal illness, a lie she crafted to wreck his relationship with Basira. Chucks corners Basira in a hallway and asks if she would have gone to her passport appointment for him, and she tells him she chose Dennis because Dennis's love changed her life. Chucks walks away broken. Dennis discovers Stella quit her job to hide from her boss, not because she was dying, and he throws her out violently. Basira sees the confrontation and refuses to open her door to Dennis, leaving him desperate. Efe steps in and helps Dennis confront Stella one last time and force her out for good. Dennis meets Basira at a restaurant and begs for another chance, admitting he failed her. Basira tells him she had already chosen him over Chucks, and they hold each other looking toward a future together.
