Ray Adeka

EARLY LIFE

Ray Adeka was born on January 14, 1996, in Sokoto, northern Nigeria. Although born in the North, he is from the Idoma ethnic group in Benue State. He was raised in a Christian family by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adeka, alongside his siblings Sonia, Armstrong, and Idu Rodney Adeka. He completed both primary and secondary education at Federal Government College, Sokoto. From a young age, he showed a strong passion for storytelling, performance, and the creative arts. Growing up in Sokoto also made him fluent in Hausa.

CAREER

Ray Adeka began his professional acting career around 2010 with smaller roles while honing his skills. His major breakthrough came when a monologue he posted on social media caught the attention of the producers of the telenovela Wura. He was invited for an audition and landed the role of Jejeloye “Jeje” Amoo, a complex, cunning, and intense character that has become one of the most memorable in recent Nigerian television. The success of Wura significantly boosted his popularity. He has since appeared in several other Nollywood films and series, including Demystified, Truly Deeply Madly, Love and Life, Planting Season, If I Am President, The Wrong Side of Goodbye, My Fake Celebrity Boyfriend, Lady of Honour, and All of Us. In addition to acting, he is involved in filmmaking, directing, writing, modelling, and brand endorsements. He is recognized for his versatility, being able to portray both romantic leads and villainous characters effectively.

Ray Adeka is known for his dedication, persistence, and ability to bring depth to his characters. His academic background in Sociology has helped him understand human behaviour, which he applies to his acting. He continues to grow as a multi-talented creative in the Nollywood industry.
