Kelvin and Vanessa's marriage fractures after three failed IVF cycles and relentless pressure from his mother. One night Kelvin coldly confesses that Scarlet carries his child, framing it as proof he was never infertile. The confession revives Vanessa's buried trauma: eight years earlier during NYSC she watched a neighbor's child crawl into an open well and did nothing. A spiritualist declares the sin cursed her womb and warns she will stay barren until she confesses. Kelvin moves Scarlet and his mother into the home, and the mother-in-law favors Scarlet and denies Vanessa the kitchen. Later Vanessa attempts to coexist but the humiliation intensifies with each passing day. Her friend Jessica confronts Vanessa about the well incident. Kelvin remains indifferent and admits he only cares about his peace of mind and impending fatherhood. The humiliation drives Vanessa to lock herself in her room for days, stop eating, and attempt suicide by cutting her wrist in the bathroom. Vanessa serves Kelvin divorce papers, calmly stating she cannot share her husband and refuses a polygamous arrangement. Then Kelvin pleads for her to stay and Scarlet intervenes with unexpected compassion, urging Vanessa not to leave and asking her to care for Kelvin and the baby. Scarlet kneels and begs Vanessa to stay, and Vanessa remains resolved and packs her bags. The two women share a tearful goodbye, with Vanessa releasing Scarlet from guilt and wishing her happiness. Vanessa walks out of the house with her suitcase, accompanied by Jessica, and gets into a waiting car. Kelvin and Scarlet watch from the doorway as the vehicle drives away.
