Storyline

Madam Goodlife is introduced mid-argument, a stern restaurant owner pressing a young man to take a criminal job he refuses, and her fury makes it clear this is not a negotiation. Her restaurant, smelling of oil and simmering stew, doubles as the nerve center for a kidnapping operation run with her twin sons, Somto and Tobe, who handle abductions while she counts the profits. A wife storms in to accuse Madam Goodlife of seducing her husband, an accusation the matriarch dismisses with the same cold authority she uses on her boys. Across town, Dami, a hairstylist fighting to keep her business alive, argues with a street vendor over her slice of pavement and pleads with her landlord for more time on the rent, her desperation visible in the way she grips her scissors and studies the ground. The kidnappings are shown as brutal transactions. A blindfolded woman is held in a bare room while a hired man named Tubey taunts her and demands twenty-five million naira, using her phone to contact someone called Obi, and the money eventually arrives. Another captive, Pico, begs for his life, insisting he cannot raise fifty million, but his protests are ignored and he is executed, and the action shifts to Madam Goodlife toasting over stacks of cash beside Somto and Tobe. Angela, a persistent admirer of one of the twins, interrupts the celebration and is harshly dismissed, a rejection that seems routine in this household, even as Somto has already lost interest in the family work; he brings Dami food, sings to her outside her shop, and declares his love, while Tunde, a kind motorcyclist, courts her with patient attention. Dami chooses Somto, and their romance grows intimate and tender, pulling him further from the violent schedule his mother controls. Madam Goodlife senses the distraction and confronts Somto, ordering him to end the relationship and reminding him of the plan to retire at thirty-five, but he tells her his feelings for Dami are strong.
