Taken By Love

In Taken By Love, Ezekiel, an economics graduate, struggles to find work in Lagos while surviving on menial labor. Amara, the daughter of a wealthy business magnate, returns from the UK to a jubilant welcome from her father. At a party hosted by her childhood friend David, Ezekiel meets Amara and their connection is immediate. Subsequent encounters while jogging and ride‑sharing deepen their bond, and Amara promises to speak to her father about a position for Ezekiel. She secures an interview at her father's company, but the position becomes unavailable. Undeterred, Amara intervenes directly and her father, impressed by her judgment, authorizes Ezekiel's hiring. David confesses his long‑held love for Amara, who rebuffs him, seeing him only as a brother. Amara confides in her friend Chioma that she may be falling for Ezekiel but fears his recent distance. Ezekiel secures a new job and plans to resign to pursue Amara, and her father opposes the match, calling him a gold digger. Later, after a night out, Ezekiel wakes in a hotel room to find Lydia dead. David urges Ezekiel to flee, warning the police will frame him, and Ezekiel becomes a wanted suspect. Amara sees the news, tracks Ezekiel down, and learns David told him to run. A hotel cleaner named Kingsley reveals he overheard an argument between David and Lydia that night. Amara confronts her father and David, uncovering a conspiracy to pin Lydia's death on Ezekiel and secure David's path to marry her. Her father admits full complicity, claiming it was for the greater good. Finally, Amara rejects her father's justification and leaves him in the house. David is arrested by detectives after a recorded confrontation in which he inadvertently confesses. Her father, overcome with guilt and facing his daughter's ultimatum, turns himself in and confesses to the police. Ezekiel is fully vindicated and cleared of all charges by the court. Ezekiel thanks Amara for saving him, confesses love and asks to start afresh.
