Storyline
Zite works as a photographer and has spent seven years in a volatile relationship with Richie, a controlling and physically abusive partner. Her aunt Chinwe constantly urges her to leave, but Zite remains trapped by familiarity and fear. During a professional shoot she meets Lade, a charismatic photographer visiting from the UK who introduces himself as Caladi. An immediate connection forms as Lade witnesses Richie's toxic behavior firsthand and begins to position himself as a supportive presence in Zite's life. The situation intensifies when Richie brutally beats Zite, landing her in the hospital. Lade intervenes, covering her medical bills and bringing her to his family home to recover. His mother and sister Feyi welcome Zite. Friction arises when Lade announces he will not return to the UK, choosing instead to pursue a job opportunity in Nigeria to stay close to Zite. Despite the safe haven, Zite's trauma binds her to Richie. When he threatens suicide, she returns to him, leaving Lade devastated after he confesses his love. The turning point arrives when Zite discovers incriminating messages on Richie's phone from another woman, confirming his infidelity. Empowered by this betrayal and the unwavering support of Chinwe and Lade's family, Zite finally breaks the cycle and confronts Richie with a pool cue, declaring seven years of abuse, forced abortions, and broken promises over, and threatens to kill him if he ever approaches her again. She seeks refuge once more with Lade's family, where his mother shares her own history of enduring abuse to help Zite understand the difficulty of leaving. Finally Lade tracks Zite down at her own home where she has returned to pack. A tense standoff with Richie ensues, but Zite firmly chooses to leave with Lade, rejecting Richie's pleas and therapy claims. Back at Lade's family home, the two share a vulnerable conversation where Zite admits Lade showed her how she deserves to be loved.
