Pure Heart

The story of Pure Heart begins when Princess, daughter of longtime housekeeper Mrs. Madu, fills in for her mother at the home of a wealthy woman known as Madam. Madam's son Elvis, fresh from earning his master's abroad, shows Princess kindness, sparking immediate jealousy from his fiancée Vanessa and open disapproval from his class-conscious mother. Despite the growing friction, Elvis finds himself drawn to Princess, helping with chores and even offering a ten-million-naira check, which she refuses. Vanessa discovers the rejected check and uses it to paint Princess as a gold-digger, convincing Madam to fire Mrs. Madu—only to rehire her as part of a trap. They orchestrate Mrs. Madu's arrest on false theft charges, forcing Princess into an impossible choice: abandon Elvis or let her mother rot in jail. When Elvis learns that Vanessa masterminded the scheme, he erupts, ending his engagement and storming from the house while Madam, guilt-stricken, secures Mrs. Madu's release. Months later, a health crisis fells Madam, and Princess, forgetting all past cruelty, rushes to her aid and saves her life. Humbled and remorseful, Madam apologizes, acknowledges the sincerity of Elvis's love, and offers a compensation envelope that Princess insists be given directly to her mother. She encourages a reconciliation, and Princess returns to find Elvis waiting; the film ends with the couple cooking together, their relationship now openly accepted by the once-hostile matriarch.
