Private Equity opens with Belinda processing a painful breakup via voice note as she drives to visit her mother, Helen. Helen serves as a domestic worker for Jabari, a wealthy and demanding employer whose overbearing nature leaves Helen with barely any time for herself. Enraged by her mother’s mistreatment, Belinda confronts Jabari, sparking immediate tension. The dynamic shifts during a business trip to South Africa involving all three; while there, Belinda reveals that her ex-boyfriend Ladi cheated on her with Jennifer and stole her NGO concept. Amidst the travel, an unexpected bond forms between Belinda and Jabari. When Helen discovers their growing closeness, she reacts with explosive disapproval. However, upon returning home, Jabari confesses his love for Belinda. The film concludes on a hopeful note as Belinda accepts his feelings and Helen embraces their relationship, sealing their new beginning with a family hug.
