Storyline
Amaka and Nathan start their honeymoon at an upscale hotel, where Amaka is horrified by the 150,000 naira bill for three nights. She argues with Nathan, accusing him of wasting money. Back home, her penny-pinching escalates. She fires the maid Gift after suspecting her of stealing dollars (a false accusation), cuts the driver Pablo's salary, and dismisses the laundry man Shina. Nathan objects, but Amaka insists on doing everything herself. The household falls into chaos as Amaka grows exhausted and neglects their business dinner, ruining Nathan's clothes in the process. Gift, devastated by her firing, confides in a friend. She overhears Amaka pressuring Nathan to let her go and leaves voluntarily despite Nathan's protests. Nathan confronts Amaka about her behavior. She breaks down, revealing that her father lost everything to poor financial management, leading to his death and her mother's death from grief. Her terror of poverty drives her extreme frugality. Nathan comforts her and promises they will plan their finances together. Reconciled, Nathan and Amaka decide to rehire Gift. Amaka apologizes sincerely, and Gift returns. The household regains peace. In the final scene, Nathan brings Amaka breakfast in bed, a gesture of their renewed understanding and love.
